MacroMicro:
In our first assignment of Communication Design. We were given the task to select a body of text in which we were asked to write and design a response. We were limited to use only type and colors.
I found my original text from the summer issue of COLORS magazine. It was an excerpt from the magazine introducing a small island called "Vorland", which is located among the coastlines of Sweden. The government and the citizens of Vorland have always paid special attention to the global warming situation we face today. They have committed to transform the island into a green oasis. Vorland is a place where gas stations are monuments, and solar powered houses are the norm. Every summer around June, tourists from all over Europe would come to Vorland, and have a taste of the island's unique life style.
The way I designed my book and my response, was based on a self reflective exploration of the way we live.
Global warming issues have been brought up to the public for almost a decade, yet our life haven't changed a bit to help solve the problem. Air pollution caused by cars, energy shortages caused by inefficient use. People around the world are not giving enough effort and attention in solving this crisis. My response focuses on how we are senseless, and on how we waste the resource we have, even when we are fully aware of the crisis we face today.
